The Club’s Committee is elected and all other officials and sub-committees are appointed by the Committee.

Parents are encouraged to get involved and discuss opportunities with their respective Team Manager, the Club Secretary or any member of the Committee.

Club Roles 

Chair – Ben Hill

This may be a job for someone who has already been on the ‘junior football journey’, managed or coached a junior football team and has a good understanding of the terms and conditions of FA affiliation and also England Football accreditation. The Chair needs to be someone with integrity and the ability to lead the Club and effectively chair club meetings.

Secretary – Alan Hawkins

An efficient and capable administrator fits the bill for this role, someone who wants to do the right thing in the right way and is meticulous in their attention to detail.  A knowledge of FA rules, systems and procedures is helpful but not essential. This person manages all correspondence with the football authorities and the league that we play in, organises club and committee meetings, distributes fixtures to team managers, organises trophies and medals, arranges the annual Presentation Day and maintains the club website.

Treasurer – Vicki Lambert

Financial skills and experience are really useful for this role which involves being a signatory to the club’s bank account, keeping a record of the Club’s income and expenditure and preparing financial reports for the committee to consider. The role also involves some liaison with parents and team mangers to ensure that player subs are made in a timely manner.

Club Welfare Officer – Dean Rainford

This role is all about making sure the club provides a safe environment in which to play football and central to this is the administration of the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) safeguarding checks that the club is required to carry out for those working with our children.  Ideally, we’d like to find someone who has a real interest in safeguarding in sport, including promoting ‘Respect’ within the game, and for this some experience in a welfare role would be useful but not essential.

Club Development Officer – Lindsay Hawkins

This role needs someone who can support the growth and development of the Club. Perhaps someone with experience of managing and coaching a team, but definitely someone who has an interest in supporting others to develop their skills.  This person will also work with the Committee to develop a plan for the Club going forward.  If development and improvement are your thing, then this could be the role for you.

Facilities & Equipment – Craig Waterworth

This role involves ensuring that all teams have the necessary equipment and clothing each year and liaising with our venues to make arrangements for both summer and winter training and fixtures. Ideally you would be really organised and cost conscious to ensure that we spend Club resources well. This person will be a member of the Committee and works closely with the Grounds Manager to ensure that our facilities are well maintained.

Communications Officer – Emma Hill

This role is all about helping the Club to communicate effectively with its members.  If websites and social media are your thing, then this could be the role for you.  We’d like to find someone who can manage our new website which has been created using WordPress. This is a job for someone who understands the importance of engaging with everyone involved and can help the Club tell its story, attract new players and be valued by our members.

Social Events & Fundraising Committee

The aim of this small group is to help create a positive and fun environment for everyone associated with the Club, to help raise funds for the Club and also to enable us to support a local charity. If you’re a sociable kind of person with ideas about how to do that then this role could be for you.  Experience of this kind of work would be a bonus but it’s not in any way essential as this is really all about a team working together.

President – Andy Holt

This role is about being an ambassador for the club, an advocate within the local community, representing the club at formal events and providing support and guidance to the Club and the Committee. We are pleased to welcome the Chairman of Accrington Stanley FC as our new President.

Team Manager / Coach

The Team Manager usually manages the general administration and logistics involved in running the team and the Coach may concentrate on developing the players’ skills and technical abilities, improving physical fitness and preparing the team to play matches.  Ideally, these roles are fulfilled by separate individuals working closely together but may sometimes be fulfilled by just one person.

Grounds Manager – Geoff Lambert

This is a hands-on role to help the club maintain the playing surface at the Read Recreation Ground and the Read Primary School field and involves grass cutting, line-marking and maintaining equipment.

Coach Support – Rob Svarc

The club strives to support its coaches whenever it can and the purpose of this role is to help our volunteers develop their skills as grassroots football coaches and create a fun environment for everyone.
